The Image Tool allows you to place Images and PDFs in both the 2d View and the Sketchbook.
Importing images provides you with source material that you can trace over.
Select the Image Tool from the Toolbar:
Open the Image settings to select your image. You can import images from a file or directly from your Photo album. Using the files option allows you to place images and PDFs.
You can set the size and rotation of the image directly in the settings.
To edit images, select the image and use either the Image settings or the Edit tools.
Note: To select images you must be on the Image Tool (this prevents images from accidentally being selected when you are working with other items like buildings for example.
Depending on the source of your image it is sometimes difficult to know what the size should be in order to trace items at the correct size.
To scale an image to the correct size first find a portion of the image that has a known size. In the example below this is a property boundary for which we have the dimension.
Select the image, then click the Scale Tool in the Edit Toolbar.
Then, in a similar way to dragging, click a [known] start point and draw the line to the [known] end point: (This is indicated by the red arrow)
Once you have drawn this line a input field will appear. This field shows the current length of the line you have just drawn (in this example it is 6.83m(
Type in the known dimension (in this case 42.9) and click the Tick button.
The image is now scaled to the correct size.
Note: This method allows for quick scaling to the approximate size, both the quality of the image and the accuracy of the line input have a bearing on the resulting size. However, it is intended to alllow you to trace at the correct size and you can use the Vector Editor with Dimensions to further refine the sizes if you require further accuracy.
