Briefing is part of our paid subscription plans.
While sometimes you may enjoy dreaming up new projects in Codesign that have no site, client or brief, in many cases you'll have a brief of requirements that you need to deliver.
The Codesign Briefing system provides you with the capabilities to:
- Define the project brief (either based on Gross Usages or, detailed Space requirements)
- Assign these requirements to your model to define "what goes where"
- View reports to see where your project is meeting (or not) the brief
Brief types
There are two types of brief in Spaces:
Usage-based brief
The simple Usage based brief is available in either of our three Subscription plans and allows you to create a high-level brief with broad defined areas using the Usage types.
The simple brief is based on total areas of a specific usage, ie it doesn't provide details as to the number of individual spaces required.
Space-type brief
The Space-type brief provides you with additional control and detail. Space Type briefs are part of our Professional subscription plan.
Space-type briefs can be grouped using Space Groups to provide a hierarchy which provides additional levels of reporting.
Space-type briefs allow fine grained control down to individual spaces and therefore as well as specific area requirements, a space-type brief allows you to define the number of spaces of a particular type are required, for example in a school project, how many classrooms, of what size?
Set brief type
If you are on our Professional plan you can choose which type of brief best suits each project.
You simply set the type of brief on the Brief view:
Note: you can change brief-type at any time, however, you are warned that the previous brief will be deleted.
Create Brief
To create a brief switch to the Brief view with the View toolbar:
If necessary, set the required brief type.
The start adding requirements with the entry form:
Space-type briefs benefit from having a preset template of Space groups and types in which case much of the data is pre-populated when you add it to the brief. However, you can create Space types directly in the brief. If you want Groups you do need to per-configure these.
Editing Requirements
Editing requirements is straight forward, simply tap Edit on the applicable requirement and update the details as required.
If you wish to delete a requirement, you need to double-tap the Trash icon. Note, this will be disabled if the requirement is currently linked to an element in the model.
